Tai Chi Meditations provides one Standing Meditation and one Sitting Meditation for practitioners looking for solo accompaniment at home.

The Standing Meditation is Zhan Zhuang. The art of standing post meditation is commonly practiced among Chen Style practitioners, but not very commonly among others. It is an important foundational exercise that is so simple to learn that you can learn it from description, without video; and yet it is profoundly deep, as you learn to listen to your own body as it reveals its secrets to you.

The heart of the standing meditation is Breath, Balance, and Relaxation. We learn to listen to our bodies through breath; as we expand and contract our lungs and diaphragms, we feel the tension and release of muscles as they work. With time we learn to release the muscles through a simple mental effort.

As we breathe deeply, we expand our lung capacity. As we learn to relax in a perfectly centered stance, we gain perfect balance. With this poise we can move from physical relaxation to mental tranquility - two important steps on the road to spiritual attainment.

The Sitting Meditation is Six Healing Sounds, which has been popular throughout China for centuries. Six Healing Sounds uses the Five Element paradigm to link colors, sounds, seasons, elements, positive emotions, negative emotions, and internal organs.

We increase our physical and emotional health by purging negative energy from our bodies, using a series of qigong exercises, sounds and visualizations. As we replenish our bodies with positive energy, we heal and strengthen our internal organs, improving our healthy and chances for longevity.

Six Healing Sounds is powerful meditational medicine.
